From 2005 to 2015 this blog presented news items and resources relating to trial advocacy and the legal system, with a focus on Washington State. It was developed to support the Trial Advocacy Program at the University of Washington School of Law, but broadened to include appellate practice, the courts, access to justice, and related topics. It is no longer active.
The Federal Bar Association (W.D. Wash.) has a Profile of Judge Benjamin H. Settle in its fall newsletter. Judge Settle took the bench -- Western District of Washington, in Tacoma -- July 2, 2007.

I write to support the work of the Plowshares Peace Activists recently convicted of trespassing on federal property. The president himself has gone on record committing the United States to work for a nuclear free world. Surely the courage of those who have been convicted is morally right and their cause is just.
