Why should courts ever seal files? Doesn't the public have a right to know? In response to the Seattle Times's series, "Your Courts, Their Secrets," Judge Michael J. Trickey last spring wrote an explanation of reasons that files are sealed and explained the court's process. Judge Trickey is the Presiding Judge of the King County Superior Court.
