ABA President Karen Mathis has launched a Youth At Risk Initiative. Issues to be addressed include:
- Promoting "meaningful involvement of teenagers in all hearings affecting them."
- "Reforming the juvenile 'status offender' process."
- "Improving how the law addresses system 'cross-over' youth" -- that is, teenagers who move from "dependency" (the foster care system) to "delinquency."
